Become a memeber of SEATOW...call Capt. Christian Orfanello at 504-301-4545. HE WOULD NOT HAVE 'PASSED THE BUCK' ON YOU!!! Capt. Chrisitian is based out of your home port...Slidell. Additionally, they provide on-the-road trailer and vehicle assistance. Great guy and a great partner "Hot Rod"! MANY, MANY benefits...too many to mention. John Castelluccio, Jr.

Richard Reardon

Slidell, LA USA

24 hr. date line:  Left Grand Pass to the south for Brush Island.  Winds picked up, bumpy ride.  Got to lee side of Brush Is., nothing happening. Ck'd with Mr. Daryl & Boots, still up at Grand Pass, bite picked up there. Picked up Power Poll to head elsewhere.  What?  Engine will not turn over. Commenced to drift northerly on wind and tide. Passed boat fishing at Brush, hailed for assistance.  No response. Worked feverishly to find cause of failure. All to no avail. Drifted across Chino Bay, finally got close enough to shore to drop anchor.  Hey you, blue and white center console.  I hailed you with an orange poncho, for 45 min.
You were facing directly at us.  However, your time on the water was far more inportant than offering aid and assist to a vessel 1/4 mile away. It was easier for you to leave. j Contacted Coast Guard, to get Boat US for tow. After an hour, we got a phone call from Chris, Boat US. They did not have a boat "available" but would contact Coast Guard and advise them. Hey you, white center console, across the point, maybe 200 yds., fishing on lee side.We once again hailed with orange poncho, screamed, whistle, blew horn, cussed. Even light flare to gain your attention. Again, too busy to aid and assist.
Made several communication with Coast Guard, Boat US, and it appeared that no one, even with coordinates provided, could figure where we were.
Lets see:  Pensacola C.G., Mobile C. G., Grand Isle C. G., Boat US,.  Hey you, white center console, crossing point 1/2 mile away, under power.  Are we waving the wrong orange color distress poncho?  Contacted Mr Daryl and Boots, still at Grand Pass, now loading the boat with fish.  More than three hours have passed and no assistance.  Especially furious as boaters that do not understand the rule of the water.  What is the matter with you people?  Mr Darly and Boots, left their happy fishing grounds, came directly to our aid, and towed us back to our launch.  Damn near 6 hr. tow.
We obviously had communications issues, with the C. G.  Phone service very intermittant, radio communication transfered to phone communication, which I mentioned was poor.
But, you three boaters, who visably ignored our hail, are unworthy of the sea.  If you wonder every day, whether those distress signals were meaningful or answered, may you wake up in cold sweats every night, fear the water, question your ability to be a meaningful boater.  Get an education, fools, before somebody dies.

Oneofthepack

Sldiell, LA USA

         TEAM JO-JO

Oneofthepack needed a little motivation this morning, so got up and read the rodnreel.com fishing reports, which did the trick.

Work up Oneofthepack2, you ready to g fishing, yes says he (3rd trip in a row) got brush teethe, washed face, loaded up the Bay Flat Jr, thought we were ready to go.

But we had to find and load the snacks on the Bay Flat Jr, and then there was the doughnut holes and milk we had to stop for, by the time we got to Tites, was concerned would not have a place to park.

But the early out fisherperson where already back in, don’t think much was happening.

CONDITIONS:

• Perfect
• N.N.W. wind , than more north 8 – 10 mph
• Tide coming in
• Sunny & clear
• Mild to warm temps
• Water clarity on a scale of 1-7 was a 2 plus, sandy looking

TECHNIQUE:

Anchored up at FB4 cast and retrieve, to our surprise FB 4 was wide open for us, they had about (18) boats from FB3, to north draw bridge.

LURE DU-JOURE:

3” H&H CREAM COLORED BEETEL MATHED UP WITH an H&H ¼ oz florescent yellow head.

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

• FB # 4, between shore and FB 1 (1) t, stopped fish at 10:25 am

OUR REWARD:

• Beautiful morning
• (1) Silverwonders throw back
• Hot doughnuts and chocolate milk
• Saw (3) train go by, got them to blow their whiles for us
• A lot of good pictures of Oneofthepack2 doing his thing
• Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Oneofthepack2, he hung in their kept casting his favorite lure out and trying to catch a silverwonder, we learned a lot of new songs to sing to try and get them their Silverwonders to bite.

SUGGESTIONS:

Could it be the spring run of Silverwonders is over at the trestles, are that Oneofthepack just could not make it happen??????????????

“You got to go to know” and wishing want catch them, so get out and make it happen.

Good Fishing

Salty_Dog

New Orleans, LA USA

Trout firing off in Shell Beach.

Had a great day of fishing yesterday out near the Sound. Had three guys fishing with me, was running a trip for Capt. Johnny. Great guys, fun to fish with and turned out one of the guys knew me and my family. We got a late start but made up for lost time out there with a nice bite on live shrimp under popping corks. Water got stirred up and we had to make a move. Ended up getting on fish in some slightly deeper water. I am begging to pattern that, fish flats under corks early and go to slightly deeper water as the sun comes up. Set corks deeper with a small splitshot or take the corks off and try tight line drifting. We switched from trout to reds with 87 in the box, about their three man limit of specks and some whites mixed in. Tucked off into the marsh on the way in and boxed 6 reds and a flounder before heading for the barn.

Mickey,

I use a CALUSA net.  They are very well made.  Cared
for properly will last 10 years.  Might be a little
heavy if you're use to cheap nets, but once you
adapt you'll love em.  I use mine for pogies and
finger mullets and believe me when I drop that

Capt Charlie Thomason

Hopedale, LA USA

Hello anglers, Capt. Charlie Thomason here, been sometime since my last report, been crazy busy with trips.  As you can see the fishing has been off the hook, well on the hook, specks, reds and drum have been filling our ice chests everyday.  Campo's Live Shrimp have been slamming the trout, we have been fishing Black Bay at the usual spots with OK results but the reefs have been producing awesome results.

We have been fishing live shrimp under a cork mainly with some freelining along the way.  We have been finding that the smaller wellheads have been producing better than any other structures, the key is to look for the small slicks off the rigs, if they are on the down current side of the wellheads this means that the trout are just above the rigs on the upcurrent side.  Position your boat upcurrent and get ready.

Also, the MRGO rocks have been producing good but they are producing boats too.....LOL

Don't forget to call us ASAP to get on the books for the summer, this season seems to be one of the best in along time, good sized fish and limits coming pretty easy.

Capt. Joe has our record so far for the year with 100 trout in the ice chest for 7:15am!!!

Now for the redfish and drum, limits everyday!!!  They are thick on the marshline of Black Bay around Lake Campo and Oak River Bay, we have been fishing live shrimp under a cork on current points and coves with current.  Each day is a little different, some days points some days coves but once you figure the pattern it is on!!

Remember, we are Hopedale's Oldest Guide Service, we offer 2 true Deluxe Accommodations and experienced guides for your next trip....

Don't fish "Bayou Self" fish with Capt. Charlie's Bayou Charters!!

Check us out on the web, www.captcharlie.com or call 504-512-3474

See ya on the water....

LEFT THEM BITING THIS MORNING!

Today I had the pleasure to guide and fish with my wife Sandy and my cousin Vance Misuraca. Sandy had a Shrimp Poboy and I had the Ribeye Steak last night at the Delta Marina Restaurant before calling it a night. Another great meal prepared by Chef Burney Young.

Vance, Sandy and I left out of the Delta Marina early and headed out to the Gulf of Mexico on the west side of the Miss. River once again. The first stop was the only stop as we boated and boxed up our limit of 75 Speckled Trout by 9:00am. All fish caught on live shrimp under a popping cork. The Delta Marina has live shrimp daily.

Check out our pictures from today!

I still have Thursday May 31 open for fishing with a good tide range.

Got a call from my buddy Joey down in Raceland.  Told me that if I wanted to go catch some hog trout to meet him at the Fourchon landing this morning and not to forget my cast net and some Coors.  Got to the dock at 5am after spending the night at my sisters place in Morgan City.  4 throws with the net got us about 200 finger mullets.  We hit the rocks heading west and it was ON!  First cast and Joey pulls in a 5lb beauty.  I had a bull red on and he caught 2 more while I partied with the big spot tail.  By 9 we had 44 ridiculously big trout.  All between 2 and 5 lbs with Joey taking one that went 6lb 9oz on the digital.
All on finger mullet.  Got some trout almondine going and the wives are getting ready for supper and a run to Harrahs after we eat.
Tight lines mon amis!

Delacroix, LA USA

Wow what a day at Sweetwater! It was really good to see everybody taking advantage of this great weather and doing some fishing.  We had 2 charter boats go out today out of Sweetwater and both came back with nice boxes of mixed species.  Tout, Reds, Flounders and Puppy Drum are all hitting the dock in Delacroix.  We have plenty of live shrimp for everybody and that’s what the fishes are wanting these days.  We are also having success with the Matrix Shads in Midnight Mullet. Though keep in mind that 70% of the fish are caught with live vs. plastics. We suggest a Carolina rig with the live shrimp and fish are being caught on the bottom so take note.  Capt Jack will be here in the morning to give you tips and pointers for a successful trip.  So come on down to Sweetwater where we have everything you need for a great fishing trip!!  Sweetwater Marina where the customer is KING!!

Slidell, LA USA

     TEAM JO-JO

Today was the Big day, Oneofhtepack2 was to go on his second fishing trip of his young life, Oneofthepack figured he needed a little help, so he solicited Big Ronnie as a first mate to come along and help this outing to be fun down in our Disney World known as Delacroix Island.

We met up at Team Jo-Jo’s official meeting place, Waffle House in Chalmette for 5:30 am, Big Ronnie bought Oneofthepack2 & Oneofthepack a great breakfast, after this we loaded up Big Ronnie’s CHEVY, and went to the boat slip & loaded up the Bay Flat Sr, last stop was Lionel’s for some go juice.

Oneofthepack checked our diary for the last 2 years, based on that info it looked like spot # 60 was the one to try first thing, so off we went to spot # 60 on the map.

SIGNS:

• (4) Bunnies along Judge Perez Hwy
• (1) Bunny in the middle of the road, he did not look to go
• New St Tammany fishing pier open to fishing
• Highway 11 Bridge open to traffic
• A lot of boats on the Hwy
• A lot of boats on the water
• Bought 3 pounds of dead bait
• Lionel’s has all the live shrimp you need, they look to be a great size for fishing / catching
• Bay Flat Sr purring like a kitten, and running like a scared deer, many thanks to Earl and his crew at Bayou Outboard.
• Thanks to Big Earl, don’t have to take the cover of the Suzuki to choke her to get started, they fixed the choke

CONDITIONS:

• Perfect
• E.S.E. wind clam, then 8 – 10 mph
• Some fog
• Partly cloudy, mostly clear & sunny
• Mild to warm temps
• Tide coming in all morning
• Water clarity on a scale of 1 – 7 was a 3 minus, still don’t look right, but getting better
• Water temp 79 deg F

TECHNIQUE:

• Started out Oak River Troll
• Anchor up cost and retrieve, real slow along the bottom, did not feel the bite, line went heavy, set the hook.
• Oneofthepack2 (3 years young) using Oneofthepack ‘s Shimano rig, caught (5) Silverwonders by himself, we would cast out for him, but he reeled in and did the twitching of the H&H beetle, he as was all of us surprised to see him hook and reel them in.
• Big Ronnie and Oneofthepack had Oneofthepack2 relay busy reeling in our hooks up too.
• After Oneofthepack2 bout with 3 of those 16 – 18” Silverwonders we were catching he was ready for a snack break, those Silverwonders kicked his butt.

LURE DU-JOURE:

• At our second stop, it did not make a difference, any H&H beetle did the trick
• Me think the H&H purple beetle did its damaged, matched up with an H&H white round ¼ oz round white head w/gold hook.

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

Oak River & North / South pipeline, # 60 (21)t, Little Crevasse, Oak River & North / south pipeline, Point Fiennes, spot # 2A (5)t, stopped fishing at 11:35 am, Oneofhtepack2 looked like he had enough for one outing, but he did say he wanted o go again soon.

OUR REWARD:

• Great sun rise burning through the fog
• (26) Silverwonders (11) throw backs
• (2) Drumthings
• (2) Croakers
• (3) Cat fish
• (2) Crabs
• (2) Bottoms
• (1) log (Oneofthepack2)
• (1) Oneofthepack, (by Oneoftheapck2)
• (1/2) bushel of grass
• Great food, drinks, and snacks, thanks to Big Mel, Big Ronnie’s better half
• Additional snacks, coloring book, & colors, thanks to Loveofthepack
• Got to see Mickey Mouse, he still hanging around down in our Disney World known as Delacroix Island, although he not looking to good.
• Wonderful morning on the water with Grandsonofthepack & lifelong friend Big ‘Ronnie, don’t get any better than this for sure.
• Looking forward to when Big Jacob (Big Ronnie’s grandson) can join us on a Paw-Paw & grandson trip.
• Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Big Ronnie, he gave up a day of fishing, he made the call during the week this will be trip for Oneofthepack2, and it is his day. So with that said Big Ronnie would hook them and let Oneofthepack 2 reel them in.

Many thanks to Big Ronnie for joining us, Oneofthepack had some concern that should something happen in the boat to me, Oneofthepack2 would be all by himself, so Big Ronnie agreed to come along and do whatever Oneofthepack2 wanted to do.
All I know is we (Big Ronnie & Oneofthepack) are from the same cloth, coming up we had no patient, and a lot of nervous energy, it is truly great how god plans all this, as we get down the road a ways, and our youth has come and gone, we gain patient and have less nervous energy to really enjoy our grandkids in a way not like unto our children, hope I said that right.

SUGGESTIONS:

Today’s, was inspired from Oneofthepack2 comments during our Friday evening fishing trip, Oneofthepack2 made a wish.

Did he wish for the biggest fish, no, the most fish no, to see a mermaid no, to see a pirate no, his wish……………..was that his dad be with us.

From this I learned Paw-Paws will do, but DADS true, the real deal.

Oneofthepack was very fortunate when it came to dads, mine (Wendel B Fink Sr) and I shared the same passion in life, fishing, he was always there for me, and I always there for him. Don’t know what I wished for when I was 3 years old, probably one more fish.

So today’s suggestions is to all you DADS, make a wish come through, very little cost involved, and the ROI on your investment is astronomical at best, take / be with your youngins fishing.

As for tomorrow, me think it will be back to Delacroix, the water is really starting to look good, and the notes in our diary seem to be accurate, need to follow up on these two theories and see if they hold true.

Hope to see all you fisherperson out and about, until then:

Good Fishing

Team Jo-Jo & Oneofthepack

P.S.

Once again many tanks to Big Ronnie for joining us today

Baton Rouge, LA USA

Friday afternoon at the trestles. Launched around 4PM at dockside, headed out to somewhere near 176;
caught 2 decent trout on my first 4 casts with the pink matrix shad, then nothing for a long while.  I
bounced from piling to piling and didn't find much but the bottom and 1 small trout for about 2 hours,
worked my way back to the north all the way to around FB2. Tried my trolling rig for a half hour or so
somewhere in the middle - trap and pink trailer, caught 1 croaker on the trailer.  Threw the jig at
some northside pilings, but no good there either.  Stopped at the twin spans on my way back in and
caught 1 real nice trout (about 4 pounds).  Fished matrix shads mostly (pink, chartreuse, magneto,
magneto w/ sprayed chartreuse color on tail) rigged on 1/4-3/8 jigheads and tried rigging them Rucker
style for a while.  Conditions were real nice, flat seas, nice incoming tide until about 6PM, water
clarity fairly good (see lure at about a foot), just not so great on the catching - oh well, the dog
seemed to enjoy the boat ride! Are the morning fisherman or the live bait guys doing any better?  I
may have to convert myself to being a live bait fisherman.

Fishing Magician Charters

Today we had 4 boats running out of Shell Beach, LA. Capt. Jason had the pleasure of fishing with Flora and John Kelly, Bruce edrington, and Dale Kaliszeski. They drove in for another great day of fishing. And believe me they were not disappointed. For 8:10 this morning they were back at the dock with 115 speckled trout. What a great time they had.

Capt. Dane had the pleasure of fishing with Darin Wyatt, Bryant Regan, and John Regan. They also had a great day. They came in with 65 speckled trout.

Capt. Casey ran the other group with David Ackermann and his friends Bob, Richard, and Corey. They also had a great day catching their limit of 100 speckled trout.

I had a good day fishing with Steve Verbois and Sal Nicolesi. We also had a good day catching 65 speckled trout. Then the guys wanted to catch some reds, so we went to the shoreline and put 6 reds into the boat before the flies made us into swiss cheese.

Everyone had a great time fishing in the Breton Sound using Campo's live shrimp fishing 2' under a popping cork. Check out the pictures and give us a call. Lets go catch some fish and have a ball.

Intellicast prediction, Wind light and variable,  later ,east @6. My prediction, light fallin tide for four hours(according to my system using river gauges.com), perfect combination for some pilin jiggin at the twin span.
Early start,(4:30am launch at DOCKSIDE beat the crowds), got a tip from dockside that the hot spot was toward the Rigolets but already made up my mind  there would be enough trout at the bridges to satisfy my need for THE TAP. Got to the lake and WT???????,  3ft rollers from a stiff west south west  wind. Bounced across the lake and had to piddle around till it was light enough to see where the Purple beetle was landin. Rough but fishable.Too rough to tell what the tide was doing. Right off caught a small flounder, returned to become a bigger flounder , or a meal for someone that don’t throw anything back. Few small throw back trout  then nothin, and it was off to my favorite 5 mile long reef. Couldn‘t decide where to start so I picked a nice angle thru the waves (sideways) and started where ever it intersected with the trestle.(between 175-176). First cast 13” trout, second cast 8” trout then nothing but bottoms for the next 50 pilings. Made a few more moves picking up 1 here and there till about noon, when the old body reminded me about food and Air Conditioning at the house.
WSW wind then  Light winds and incoming tide , water temp about 80, clarity, dirty then clearing when the wind laid was the conditions of the day.Baits tried, purple beetle, key lime hybrid, chartruse beetlr with orange tail, midnight mullet matrix all on 3/8 oz jug head, all caught something. Ended the trip with:
5- Keeper trout12-15inches
1- nice flounder
1 -throw back flounder
1 -18 inch drum
Bunch of throw back trout 8-11 inches
Bunch of  bottoms, usually have a, get loose rate, of 5-1, but none today. At this rate might be cheaper to buy live shrimp.
That leads to a Question. Do any of the live bait fisher people at the bridges get hung up and lose tackle as much as the plastics people?  OOPS! Cleaned fish without a pic.

FUN DAY @ THE BEACH!!! Had the pleasure of fishing today with Bob his son Murry and friends Vam & Walt. They are from Selma Alabama. The kids are staying down town and they had a couple of fun nonstop days before they got to the beach this morning. We had a decent day catching 60 speckled trout and 6 reds. A fun group of guys that are heading back down town and out again tonight.

Capt. Rory fished with Bruce and Kevin. They had a good day catching 66 speckled trout and 6 reds.

Capt. Jakamo and Capt. Markem had a 187 trout between them. The fishing is good right now and should be better as the summer action continues. All the fish were caught on Campo’s live shrimp and a popping cork.

We finally have a weekend that is co-operating weather wise so come on down to Sweetwater in Delacroix and let us put you on 'em! Capt Chris came back to the dock with 56 beautiful trout and a beautiful 5 pounder.  Capt Tommy came back to the dock with 53 nice ones all caught in inside Delacroix waters.  All fish were caught on live shrimp on the bottom with a Carolina rig.  We have plenty of live shrimp for all as well as market bait and the plastics that are working too.  Capt Jack will be around tomorrow morning to give tips about spots and technique.  Capt Jack also had the pleasure of taking Jeffery Craig on his first fishing trip.  He caught his first trout on his very own Batman pole!  Go Jeffery!!  See you at Sweetwater Marina where the customer is KING!!

Myrtle Grove Massacre:

Had probably the best fishing day of my life today, at least with regards to trout.  Me and a good friend lauched out of Myrtle Grove Marina at the crack of dawn and headed south down Myrtle Grove Canal into Barataria Bay.  We hit an island not too far from the canal and immediately had hook ups left and right...boated about 20 or so keeper trout, then just like that, it stopped..hit a few more stops with a bite here and there.  Tried another smaller island, one that we had never fished before, and began picking away at them putting together a decent box..had two nice dolphins circling the boat the entire time. The action was not fast and furious, but definitely consistent.  Around 10:30 all hell broke loose.  It was a trout every cast for a good hour and a half.  This is an estimate, because I did not keep count, but the estimate (based on throwback to keeper ratio of 3 to 1) is that me and my buddy boated over 200 trout today.  Obviously we did not keep over our limit.  We finally quit from shear exhausation.

It was the craziest thing i've ever seen.  What was amazing was that the tide wasn't moving that much and that there was not alot of bait fish around.  The trout just went nuts even with the dolphin circling the boat the school stuck around.

We were cathing them on almost any color we could throw, but the white DOA with the glow green tail fished about 1 foot under a cork worked best.  Most of the trout averaged 12-15 inches, with a few in the 16-18 inch range.  Almost all of the throwbacks were 11 1/2 inches and heavy fat trout.

One of the top 5 best fishing days I've ever had.

ANOTHER HUNDRED JUST A DIFFERENT DAY!

Today I had the pleasure to guide Brian, Corey, Tim and Ben all from Texas. The guys checked into the Delta Marina Cabins last evening and we had a great meal before calling it a night.

We left out early and headed out on the west side of the Miss. River. Our first stop was really good as we boated 80 Speckled Trout by 10:00 am. The tide stopped so we made a move and finished up with 100 Beautiful Specks, 2 Redfish, 2 flounder and A Puppy Drum. JUST A BEAUTIFUL CATCH AND A TRIP OF A LIFETIME!

Got em again!!

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Jeff Salias of Texas, Kellum, and Greg. We left BSM, loaded up with live Boogie shrimp and headed for the sound. The fish were a little slow to start, but once they did the crew wasted no time and started filling the box. We managed to get on 3 runs of fast and furious trout action. That was all it took and the crew had their limit of trout. They had some plans for later in the day and were glad to be headed in at 9:30am.

Final count 75 trout 12”-22” and 1 pompano.

All fish were caught on live Boogie shrimp with a ¼ oz. Carolina rig.

The fishing has been great, especially when the weather cooperates. You don’t want to miss out on this awesome fishing!!! P-Wee's Big Adventure

Sweetwater, LA USA

I got an invitation to go 'scouting' with Captain Joe Wronkowski on thursday....

We headed straight out to Breton Islands in 2.5 foot swells which insure that if there were any chance of a kidney stone hiding out in our filters we would have passed em before seeing our first rig...

Though a tough ride out, we were rewarded with a quick 50 trout on ice and by 10 am we were on our way 'scouting'..

Joe wanted to fish Lake Fortuna as he's never been over in that direction much. He's always looking for new adventures, which of course is why he brings me along to insure there's never a dull day aboard the big triton.

The water approaching and inside fortuna was beautiful given the winds and freshwater diversions of late, so we tried a few obvoius points for trout picking off a dink here and there but mostly catfish smashing plastics. That's a phenomenon that is relatively new within the past few years so let's blame it on BP oil...

Water was high so we were throwing baits into the grassline and Joe thought he was stuck on some reeds, when in fact there was a small though legal redfish sleeping in the reeds and decided to hit up on a small snack since his nap was interupted anyway.. One red for the box, but Joe wanted on for the GRILL that night so the search continued.

He approached a pond  with water like glass it was that protected from the winds and bait was jumping all over the place.. It didn't take long for Joe to spot the tell tale site of schools of bull reds feeding in the shallow water. Problem was there was bait galore and they didn't seem very interested in our measley pieces of dead scrimps... Joe fixed his eye upon a set of fins, casted right in front of the big boy and just kept gently popping that cork teasing that monster into taking the bait! The it was ON I tell you!

Now Joe fishes with braided line, probably 40 lb test minimum but that fish made him wonder if the line would hold out... I could hear the bearings squealing in his reel, so I quickly grabbed a bottle of water out of the cooler and continually pouring it over his reel cooling down the cogs, wheels, pins and bearings all the while patting down Joe's forehead with a cool cloth to keep him from over heating during the fight of his lifetime. Sometimes I would shoot gatoraid from one of those sippy cups into his mouth like they do the football players on television, and kept a continuous spray of florida water around his nape and back just for good measure....There was no telling how long this fight would endure, but it was obvious that both wanted victory as much as the other...

Well the prior paragraph is mostly a load of crap, but it was a helluva fight for the landing of Mr. Bigredfish!

It took both of us to lift that fish out of the water once netted and the boca grip barely fit over his lip, but there he was the fish of the day ready for his photo and inevitable release to breed and perhaps fight another day!

It's that one catch we all hope to experience each and every time we make a fishing trip and I'm happy and honored to have been a part of that whole experience.

Many of us are blessed with knowing just how magical are the waters of South Louisiana and we wouldn't live anywhere else for that reason alone! And that, my friends, is NOT an embellished statement.

Fishette is back in town, the banana boats gassed up, fixed up and ready for the challenge of summertime fishing, and Scienceguy is almost finished teaching for this year and ready to wet his line again so it won't be long before we'll be posting on a regular basis again...

Til then, I wish EVERYONE out there the adventure of a lifetime each and every day!

Fished in Bay Eloi this morning for about 6:30. Catching really good at a rig north of deadmans island. Got about twenty good ones in the boat and then the company arrived, two guides and three more boats. We moved to the rocks to search for clean water...none there. back to a favorite rig west of deadmans and caught again. Me and partner finised up with close to the 50 mark(thought for sure we were close so we stopped a bit too early). All fish were caught 3 ft under cork in about 6 foot of water with live shrimp only. Funny thing happened at the second rig. A guide saw us catching and pulled within 20 yards and casted right where we were(he did approach quietly though). We actually started catching at a much faster pace with him there. Don't know why.

Fishing Magician Charters

Today was another great day of fishing out of Shell Beach, LA. We had 5 boats running and everyone had a fabulous day. The first group was Bryant Regan's. They had a great day by catching 100 speckled trout. The second group was Pat Kelly's and they also had a great day and ended the day with 180 speckled trout. Brian Levy's group had a great day and ended with 110 speckled trout. And finally, Jay and his friends ended the day with 75 speckled trout and a couple of reds.

The total trout caught today was 470 speckled trout in the 12 - 18" range. All fish were caught in the Breton Sound while fishing 2' under a popping cork using Campo's live shrimp. We will be back out on the water tomorrow. I look forward to posting our trip.

Check out the pictures and give us a call. Lets go catch some fish and have a ball. Fishing is great at this time and it is only going to get better. So come on down.

Capt. Jonathan Sanchez - Reel Excitement Charters

Hopedale, LA USA

Yesterday I had the pleasure of fishing with Joel Darier, Mike Levy, Craig, Rick, and Mike. We shoved off the dock at 5am with the live well filled with live Boogie shrimp and croakers and headed towards the rocks. When we got there we were greeted with a stiff NW 10-15 breeze, which made for a chilly ride out. We set up on a stretch where we had been catching some good fish, but the water was filthy and the catfish were in full force! We bounced around a bit, only to find the same conditions and results. I figured that the sound should have cleaner water but was going to be rough. Mr. Levy could see that I was contemplating if the sound was going to be worth dealing with the rough seas. Mike said that they were up for it, if it if they had a better shot for catching fish. The decision was made, off to the sound we went. By the time I decided to go to the sound the wind had shifted to the ENE and picked up a bit more. We made it to a rig that I hadn’t fished in a while and the water was very clean. I had everyone cast in every direction and in no time Joel had a nice 2# trout coming in the boat. I happen to have one pole rigged up with a sliding cork set at about 9’, Rick happened to be fishing with that pole. As soon as Joel got his fish with a Carolina rig, Rick was anxious to get the sliding cork off. I told him to make one more cast, than I would switch him over to the bottom. The next cast Rick was reeling in a nice speck of his own. I asked if he still wanted me to take the sliding cork off, he said he was willing to fish it a little longer. He managed to catch the next 5 fish, while no one else was getting a bite. So I started rigging everyone with a sliding cork, which is not the easiest thing to do while bouncing around in 2-3’ seas. While I’m rigging the rest of the crew, Rick was on fire catching trout after trout. Once I finally get everyone rigged with the sliding cork, after about 15 more min. of steady catching, the bite slowed down. We made a cast back on the bottom and bam a trout coming in the boat. Swapped everyone back to the bottom and continued filling the box. We had our fair share of Mackerel and lady fish to deal with but it was worth it. When the bite stopped we had about 85 trout 2-3# with a few 4s in the mix. We moved to another rig and only picked up 2 more trout. With it still being rough, we went back to the rocks to see if the conditions had improved any. We managed to find some water that was fishable, and started putting some more trout in the boat. At 12:30 they finished off the live bait and was ready to head for BSM.

They finished the day with 116 trout 12”-4lbs.

All fish were caught on Live Boogie shrimp under a sliding cork 9’ and on a ¼ oz Carolina rig.

The fishing has been great, especially when the weather cooperates. You don’t want to miss out on this awesome fishing!!! Secret Formula

Algiers, LA USA

I made the Myrtle Grove / Elmer's Island loop Hans Solo today.  I had great expectations of getting on a vicious beach bite, but it wasn't to be.  Instaed it was like being at a Foghat concert "Slow Ride".  I made countless sets to build a box but in the end I ended up with a quality limit of trout.  Most of which were caught at the Grand Isle break waters on the east end, and at the camps inside of Four Bayou.  The water on Elmer's was dirty but to the east was pretty.  All the fish were caught after the tide began to fall, and were caught on carolina rigged croakers.  Now it's time to sling some slime.  ARRIVE ALIVE!!!

3 of us fished Thursday out of BSM with live shrimp at the MRGO long rocks keeping 75 trout between 13 & 18 inches. Most running 16 to 17" with a flounder and 26" red thrown in for good measure. They really wanted the live bait today. Plastics were not nearly as productive taking several casts to induce a strike whereas the live shrimp was hit as soon as it hit the water. Started fishing about 07:30 and finished up at 09:40. Pretty decent looking water and tide movement at the rocks. Repeat of a few days earlier with 2 of us.

Public Scoping Meetings for an Amendment to the
HighlyMigratory Species
Fishery Management Plan (HMS FMP)(Amendment
7)

NMFS is examining whether existing management
measures for Atlantic HMS, and in particular
Atlantic bluefin tuna (BFT) regulations, are the best
means of achieving management objectives for
BFT and provide flexibility for future management.
The feedback NMFS has received during the 2011
quota rulemaking process and through the HMS
Panel meetings demonstrated the need for a
comprehensive review of the NMFS BFT
management system. NMFS is exploring a wide
range of potential management measures
including a revision of baseline quota allocations,
both the reduction of and accounting for dead
discards; new and/or modified time and area
closures; and methods to improve reporting and
monitoring of discards and landings.

Therefore, NMFS will be holding public scoping
meetings to determine the range and significance
of issues to be analyzed in a draft environmental
impact statement and notifying you that based on
that process, there may be a proposed
amendment to the 2006 Consolidated HMS FMP.
NMFS isalso announcing the availability of a

For the tide data here, how can you change the time so the tide and celestial data will be correct for daylight savings time? it shows as GMT -6 but shouldn't it be GMT -5 when we are on daylight savings time?

Thanks

Mark

Sweetwater Cindy & Capt Jack Payne

Delacroix, LA USA

Yesterday’s fishing trip consisted of half of the day outside catching 20 trout in 2 and ½ hours and then c back on the inside and catching trout one after another,  bigger than the ones caught outside until a big thunderstorm hit that sent them in quick.   So today Capt Jack stayed on the inside and caught 69 big beautiful trout.  Capt Jack is staying on the inside until ALL the trout are gone.  The total yesterday was 43 trout, 3 flounders, 2 drum and 5 reds.  Today the total was 69 trout, 11 reds (8 were released), 4 drum and 2 flounders.  Yes sir the fish are biting folks!!  We have plenty of beautiful live shrimp just waiting for you.  The weather is going to be hot this weekend but no rain so come on down to Delacroix to Sweetwater Marina and let us point you in the right direction.  We have plenty of days still open for charters and lodging but are booking up fast so give us a call 504-342-2368.  All fish were caught on the bottom with LIVE SHRIMP and Matrix Shad’s Midnight Mullet with 30% of the fish caught on plastic.  Use a Carolina Rig for the live shrimp and he wanted me to tell you he was fishing in water that was 13’ to 15’ deep.  Capt Jack said to get your maps out and look for some of the deep channels that run from way out on the outside to way deep into the middle of the marsh and look for ambush points consisting of smalls bayous draining into the deep channels and shorelines where the current hits them and they are 10’ to 15’ deep.  Use your depth finder and when you find these areas cast to the shallows and bounce your bait to where the ledge drops off.  That’s where the big trout have been coming from.  Capt Tommy also went out today and caught 25 beautiful trout, some nice reds and flounders on a scouting trip.  NOW is the TIME to get down to Delacroix to Sweetwater Marina where the customer is KING!!!

River Ridge, LA USA

A trip I will never forget!

For the second day in a row, Phillip and I fished the slidell area of Lake Pontchartrain and limited out on 2-5 pound trout. Today we also had my good friend Dave with us. We had no problem catching out 75 trout using matrix shads and tko shrimp "rucker" rigged as the locals call it. Doctor Bob came and tied up to out bow and Chas from dockside was right next to us. All three boats hammering the trout. Great group of guys fishing together!

Ok so yes we caught some monster trout today!
BOTH Phil and Dave both caught there biggest trout to date

Dave's was right over 6 pounds and Phillip's was right under 6 pounds! Great job guys!

I caught my second biggest trout ever! A hammer that was 28 inches long and weighed 8.089 pounds on a certified scale!

UNREAL FISHING RIGHT NOW! Go over and see chas at dockside. It might be the difference between you catching fish or not catching fish. The man knows what he's doing!

God Bless,
John Rucker
